Hello all,
This looks like a great forum. It seems Graybags and I have something in common. I am a C4-C5 quad, was rendered so as a result of a car accident when i was 19….I’m 36 now. Like Graybags, i feel life did not end for me that day, just changed. I still do crazy shieet like I did back in the day. As a matter of fact i feel that’s why i was given this fate…to keep me alive!! I have lived in Europe, and a bunch of places in the U.S. I now live in Texas.
I use to love riding my gl1000 honda goldwing, playing drums, snow skiing, and the ladies. Of course after my accident it took a while to get to a place where i could find new things to entertain me. As a quad i have bungie jumped, ridden on the back of a crotch rocket, and rafted the Quadeloupe river…i plan on parachuting as soon as i can talk my wife into letting me. I keep telling her what are the odds of breaking my neck again??
Through all the years of rehab, i am now able to walk short distances with only a fore arm crutch. I still have to cath ( mentor 450’s) and still have paralysis on my left side ( no fine motor skills ) but i also have to add, with a lil viagra, me wedding tackle still works! woo-hoo!!
From reading your posts, and visiing your web-site i see you Graybags have very much the same outlook i do…jumping wheelchairs…only folk like us could see the beauty in that! I think by far my favorite thing is not having to wait in line at amusement parks! Haahah, poor bastards look at me and thank god they are not like me as they wait in line for three hours to ride the newest rollercoaster, while i and me mates get to go through the out line and ride twice before they move three feet!! lol
Everything that could happen to a guy in a wheelchair, has probably happen to me. Everything from being a lil too drunk and crashing my Invacare Arrow MKIV A into a hotdog stand at the local fair, to getting stuck in a closet hanging upside down by my seatbelt for three hours!
Needless to say i cut the seatbelt off after that one. i can’t count the amount of times i’ve been thrown from my chair as a result of my carelessness wether straight or tipsy!Another one of my favorite things to do is pick on my wife, ie – we went to the mall in my push chair, and when we were about to go in i acted as if i were mentaly handicap, not physicaly….i used my spazms, and voice to sound like a very traumatized individual….when she smacked me lovingly to get me to stop…i got louder and crazier…she smacked me again on the head trying to get me to stop…when a movie employee came over and asked her why she was hitting on a defensless handicap…i almost peed my pants. Folfs see a wheelchair and automatically think there is something wrong with the mind…not the body. it’s that i play with…lol maybe mean, but it’s a release lol
I’m looking forward to shooting the sheeiit with you fine folk.
More to come
Peace!
Van
