VENUE: Spinal Injuries Association, 109 Logan Rd Woolloongabba QLDStem cell science has captured the public’s imagination.
It has been touted as an advance with revolutionary possibilities for people with a range of disabilities and diseases. Whilst stem cell research undoubtedly shows much promise, community expectations can often run high on what stem cells will deliver in the future. The first clinical trials using novel stem cells for spinal cord injury have only just started and it is still too soon to know whether such treatments are safe let alone effective. However, at the same time many clinics and companies overseas are already offering a range of unproven stem cell treatments for spinal cord injury and many other conditions, an opportunity a growing number of Australians are taking up.
This workshop aims to reach out to the broad spinal cord injury community – clinicians and people with spinal cord injury alike.
Join us to hear about the latest findings in stem cell research and what is happening with stem cell tourism. Discuss the issues that matter to you and tell us about your personal experiences. A new conversation on stem cells and spinal cord injury
