Thought I’d start a thread where us locals – frequent posters – can post updates and keep in touch. Others are welcome to read about our adventures trials and tribulations, post comments and questions, as that is what this user driven website is all about.
Ok so I will start. For those who don’t know me, my name is Graham I am a C5-6 quadriplegic, the creator and lead administrator of this website. Our mascot is Roxy a Silky Terrier cross Toy Poodle, retiring Syd our Western Bearded Dragon. A nimble quick learner 12mth old Roxy already knows some English; sit, stay, treats, walk, no, out, home, etc. and our three kids names. I would like to get her registered as an assistance or companion dog. However, the only organization currently approved to do so here, Guide Dogs Australia, will only accredit their own raised. We live on the beautiful sunshine filled coast of Queensland Australia. Most days you will find me in the garden or at the beach with my gorgeous partner Sharon by my side and Roxy in my lap.
This month we finished painting the kids rooms. New carpet will be going in next week. Meanwhile I’m constructing a 5 panel wire mesh trellice on the back fence. Reinforcement mesh used to strengthen concrete slabs. Also been scouting around for old machinery parts to weld up an owl and dragonfly, to give the piece a rusty artistic appeal. Sharon has 5 red and white Mandevilla creepers which can grow 20ft high already to go thriving in the ground. Planted 4 months ago, we’ve started pulling peanut bushes up from my wheelchair accessible raised garden bed this week. Super easy to grow i am a little disappointed I didn’t get a Niacin rich fertilizer to help mature the nuts, some are underdeveloped. Still 10 of 20 from a bush is better than none.
After jumping through many government hoops and red tape i hope to tell you all about my new van with a fully automated wheelchair hoist with air conditioning next month. If you can do one positive thing to improve your life everyday, no mater how big or small, one positive thing, you will reach your goals. For now I wish you all the best.
