Can anyone tell me if Virgin put Isle Wheel Chairs up into their planes on the Gold Coast / Coolangatta.
I know they do in Brisbane , also I am pretty big and not much good at helping my carer transfer me , and there is so little room
I’m just after people comments / experiences.
Thanks Danny

Hey Danny,
All Virgin Blue planes are Boeing 737 so there’s no difference to your average Quantas flight. Plead for a free upgrade to business class even as you’re boarding, if there’s a vacant seat you’ll get it.
From virginblue.com.au :
If you have a special requirement or need, for example you are travelling with an oxygen bottle, wheelchair or pet, or you are booking for a child aged under 12 years and travelling without an adult guardian (“unaccompanied minor”), you must contact the Virgin Blue Guest Contact Centre on 13 6789. One of our friendly Guest Contact Centre team will be happy to assist you.
Isle chairs are generally owned by the arlines. Call them to be sure. I imagine they’ll have a couple of big attendants to lift you into your seat. Or you might find a few huge Kiwi Rugby players sulking in the corner. Alternatively PQAQ may organize some volunteer assistants.A standard seat is 81cm pitch. There are 9 “Blue Zone” seats on every Virgin Blue flight that are 100cm pitch they cost an extra $30/person one way.
Heh Heh.. As a quadriplegic with a bad shoulder I use a lifting belt. Some years back in Mackay they carried me down the isle out the door and plonked me into my wheelchair which was sitting on a pallet atop of a forklift!. They threw a couple of boxes of fruit on and delivered me to the airport doors. Times have changed.
When, where you off to Danny?.

Thanks ??? , for the reply, yeah I’ll just ring them when I think I’ll do something more definite. I was just fishing for some personal experiences. I don’t know if Virgin have 1st class with that bit more room.

Was thinking of going to Melbourne for a more reasonable price on a few specific tests on my heart.
I head down every year, I really love the drive, but it’s just such a pain in the arse, ”literally” and just so uncomfortable , so I was just exploring an alternative.
regards Danny … ;)

Hi all , I’m flying to Melbourne on the 24th of this month, ,just to have specialists check my heart out.
(I think I’ve got one ! ) My first time on a commercial airplane ! I hope I don’t need the spew bag :-) ;)I’m going to take my Electric Wheel Chair on the plane with me (not actually on the plane,
but you know what I mean)I’m just a bit apprehensive about boarding, transferring etc.
But when I get back I’ll write how I get on
