Home › Forum › General Chit-Chat › General Discussion › Partner of a quadriplegic looking for advice
Hi,
I’m very new to this forum and have joined mainly to try and get more information from people who know what it is actually like to experience being a quadriplegic.
My story in a nutshell: my boyfriend of 1 1/2 years had an accident 3 days ago that has left him as a c4 complete quadriplegic. He has very limited movement of his upper arms and can, with difficulty, breathe on his own. Previously he was the most physically active person I have ever met. He is the love of my life and the only thing more painful than the devastating effect that this will have on his life, especially in these early days is the thought of losing him altogether.
I am at a loss as to what to do or say to him. I have no idea how I’m going to be able to help him through this, especially in these next few months which I expect to have some very dark times. I appreciate every person is different and will deal differently but I would appreciate any insight as to things that in the same situation you found helpful or unhelpful.
Thanks so much everyone :)
