Where all the cool wheelchair people hang out
Home › Forum › General Chit-Chat › General Discussion › Writer looking for interviewees
Hello!
My name is Michelle, and I’m pleased to meet all of you. I’m a writer and am currently working on a novel involving a disabled character, specifically a quadriplegic. Not having first-hand experience myself, I’m hoping to talk to as many people as possible who are willing to have a conversation with me about their lives and experiences. Although this character is certainly much more than his disability, I want to make sure that I portray that part of his life authentically.
So, what I’m specifically looking for is anyone who would be willing to do an informational interview with me. You don’t need to be male or a quad, I’m interested in speaking with anyone who spends the majority of their time in a wheelchair. This would involve me asking some open-ended questions, and you saying as much or as little as you care to in response. Most of the questions would be about your daily life and routines. Some of them will relate to relationships and sexual experiences, and as with all the questions, you could choose not to respond to those. We could do this via private message on this forum, via email, or even video chat on Skype or something similar, if that’s easier for you than typing.
Your privacy would be respected in the utmost and your name/contact info/screen name would never be shared with anyone (although I may ask if you would mind being thanked in an afterword, using whatever name you’d feel comfortable sharing).
Please let me know if this post is in any way inappropriate or if I should be making it in a different part of the forum. Thanks for your time, everyone!
